Greetings from the Saranac JR / SR High Athletics office,
To start I would like to thank our coaches who have selflessly put in hundreds of hours over the fall season to ensure our athletes were ready and could compete in the sports they love!
I would like to recognize success from this fall and celebrate some athlete accomplishments.
Starting with Middle School,
Our Redhawk 7/8 grade football team went undefeated outscoring opponents 183 to 38 on the season!
Middle school volleyball showed tremendous growth throughout the season. I would like to recognize and thank Averi Lamp as she is hanging up her knee pads after this season as 8th grade coach. I appreciate all she has done for our youth these past few seasons!
Middle School Cross Country had a good year capped off with many PRs and MHSAA Middle School Regionals where as a boys team we finished 4th and girls 5th overall. I would like to recognize Joel Oosterhouse, Jesse Rockhold, Ricky Young, Sophia Wilbanks, and Ainsley VanKuiken for finishing top 20 in the region! The future is bright! (And fast!)
High School earned many CMAC honors this year,
Cross country,
Girls all conference second team Alyssa Possehn and Esther Cahill. Esther also earned regional honors and was a state qualifier!
Boys all conference honorable Mention Eli Lauer and Brady Oosterhouse

Fall sports are now wrapped up in their entirety and we are already into the winter season! All high school fall coaching evals have been distributed on their respective sports communication mediums and after Thanksgiving I will begin the review and evaluation process, so one more week to get them in.
Beginning December 1st we will be ending organized team activities on Sundays at the Jr/Sr High level. This will give our kids a day to recover physically, mentally, and academically. Your coaches are working to realign workouts into the remaining 6 days of the week. There may be one-offs where a Sunday activity is needed due to excessive snow days or playoff games. Second, summer no-contact week has been established this year as June 29th thru July 5th, 2025. This is a period mandated by MHSAA where no coach-to-athlete contact can be made. SCS facilities are close during this period.
We are always looking for ticket volunteers, get in free to the game and have front row seats! Below is a link to sign up. The average officiating cost for Middle School basketball is $200 a night, and high school is $430! Please help us recover costs by collecting gate fees.
I appreciate you taking the time to read through this fairly long email. If you would like to follow up further or are looking to be involved in any way please reach out to me by email at JRicket@saranacschools.org.
Thanks and Go Redhawks!!
Jason Ricket, SCS Athletic Director
