The JSH kitchen is dealing with some issues with our main freezer. This may result in some lunch changes. Today will be Chicken Patty on a Bun with the works, Fries, and Fruits. Friday is going to change to 3-Meat Subs, Fruit and Veggies and we will be adding a Bag of Chips. Lunches may change for the next week or so depending on the ETA of the freezer getting fixed.

As part of our partnership with Ionia County Health Department Substance Abuse Initiative, we are handing out free marijuana-storage lock-boxes to parents to help prevent underage access to products that contain THC. These boxes are available in the JSH office. We will also have these available at JSH events.

Thank you very much to our JSH parents! Your generous donations to the Alternative Fundraiser have raised over $2,600 for student activities since school started Monday. This money is used for student activities, t-shirts, incentives and celebrations.

Today, Thursday, August 29th, Des Cakes will be donating 10% of all sales to the senior class graduation activity fundraiser. Stop in and purchase a wonderful sweet treat from this local business and help our senior class. Thank you for your support!

Due to the Cross Country Invitational tomorrow, 08.28, Otto Laabs Lane will be closed at 3pm between Mill Street and the Football parking lot. If you are parked in the back lot, during the day, please move to the front lot before 3pm. Parents picking up JSH students will still be able to exit, but incoming traffic will be stopped at 3:00 PM. All volleyball traffic is also asked to use the front lot. SCS Community: We have been incredibly blessed with a tremendous amount of support from our community and neighboring communities. Counseling support offers have been pouring in from area schools and counseling providers along with food and drink donations from our local businesses. Parents, thank you for your flexibility and support; we couldn't get through days like today without you. There were a lot of decisions to be made over the weekend and a lot of unknowns at the time. We graciously appreciate that you supported us with making sure the needs of our students were put first. Good Afternoon! Tomorrow is the first day of school! 1. School starts at 7:40 AM and dismisses at 10:55 AM tomorrow (normally 2:40 PM). 2. This is a reminder that JSH Smart Start is today from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All JSH students are expected to attend at some point. The typical visit takes approximately 30 minutes or less. Unfortunately, the PTSO activities for 7th graders have been cancelled. 7th graders no longer need to attend from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Seniors should see Mr. Eisen during their visit to set up Parchment. The high school student council, led by staff sponsor Mr. Josh Smith, and mayor, Landen Winsor, held their first meeting of the '24-'25 school year. Planning is underway for Homecoming 2024!

One week from today, THURSDAY, AUGUST 15TH, is Smart Start. All JSH students are expected to attend at some point between 9AM and 5PM. 7th Graders should attend, if possible, between 3PM and 5PM for specific activities planned by the PTSO. Attention: High School Students taking MCC dual-enrollment classes The start date for all MCC dual-enrollment courses, including in-person courses, is Monday, August 19th. Please check your email regularly for communications from your instructor. In-person classes meet in room 108 at the JSH.

The JSH is looking for local sponsors to help, along with local grant dollars, cover the cost of Redhawk T-shirts for all of our students and staff. We typically use funds donated by parents and families, as we try to avoid traditional fundraising. Our accounts are running a little low, though, and we are looking to retain funds for other student activities. Sponsors who donate $200 to sponsor a class (i.e. the Class of 2025) will have their business or organization's name featured on the T-shirts. Good Afternoon, The JSH office will officially reopen on Friday, August 2nd. The office will be open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily until the start of school for student on August 26th. Mr. Eisen, school counselor, will return to work on Monday, August 12th. Teaching staff will return on Wednesday, August 21st.

Congratulations to the Saranac Sweepstakes 4-H at the Ionia Free Fair! They each were showmanship champion for their animal and competed against all other champions showing all 11 species.
